Connected solutions from FEED to commissioning

In Port Moody, BC, Lauren Services partnered with Pacific Coast Terminals to expand their glycol unloading capacity, enhancing their role in the regional supply chain and facilitating export to global markets. Managing the project from front-end engineering design (FEED) to commissioning, our team coordinated new rail tracks, unloading platforms, and piping systems under a tight budget and schedule, fostering close collaboration with contractors and stakeholders to optimize efficiency and deliver a high-value solution.

Designed to enhance railcar efficiency

This expansion project significantly enhanced PCT’s capacity for handling Monoethylene Glycol (MEG). The upgrades included 10 new advanced unloading racks, improving the offloading and export processes of MEG. The project also introduced two modern unloading tracks, boosting annual glycol handling capacity from 800,000 metric tonnes to 1.25 million metric tonnes. The project increased PCT’s glycol capacity while also enhancing the efficiency of railcar traffic.

Seamless project momentum and timely completion

The MEG Unloading Expansion presented unique challenges that Lauren adeptly navigated to ensure project success. Operating within the strict 2022 Class 4 budget was critical, as overages were not covered by the shared cost agreement, demanding meticulous cost control to deliver without compromise. Close collaboration with Pacific Coast Terminals’ stakeholders was essential to align design and execution with budget constraints while maintaining high-quality standards. Additionally, optimizing contractor teams and methodologies minimized inefficiencies and standby time, ensuring seamless project momentum and timely completion.
