In GTM Mainland, British Columbia, Lauren partnered with Enbridge to advance a portfolio of meter station upgrades and new installations, fortifying the Westcoast system’s capacity and resilience against operational and environmental risks. Serving as the primary engineering provider since 2022, our team managed FEED studies, detailed designs, relocations, and reliability assessments across multiple sites, incorporating temporary bypasses, interconnect piping, and flood-resilient features to enable seamless expansions, minimize outage impacts, and support multi-customer gas flows up to 2.0+ BSCFD.

Elevating metering precision and capacity in dynamic brownfield settings

This brownfield program encompasses five key initiatives enhancing Enbridge’s GTM meter stations: MS-21 relocation and update to a new 80 MMSCFD shop-built facility with temporary piping bypass and site design; MS-208 FEED for 640 MMSCFD interconnects, including two 20” branch connections on 30”/36” mainlines, 24” piping to Petronas tie-ins, and check valve bypasses for maintenance; MS-18 FEED/detailed design replacing NPS 8/12 meter skids at Jedney with a standalone NPS 12 main flow building (200 MMSCFD); MS-16 reliability study reviewing bypasses, metering, electrical systems, generator backups, and flood hazard threats (2.0+ BSCFD); and SEP MS-16 300 MMSCFD expansion from CS-2 to CS-9, boosting T-South system throughput. These efforts ensure tandem line operations, full-pressure capabilities, and robust custody transfer in high-demand corridors.

Navigating relocations and expansions with minimal disruption expertise

The meter station projects demanded adaptive strategies to integrate upgrades into live brownfield environments, where Lauren excelled by balancing outage constraints, site relocations, and capacity enhancements through rigorous process reviews and stakeholder coordination. Challenges like designing temporary bypasses for MS-21 to maintain flows during transitions, engineering interconnects and valve bypasses for MS-208 to avoid future shutdowns and assessing flood vulnerabilities at MS-16 required multidisciplinary hydraulic modeling, electrical optimizations, and hazard mitigations. Our proactive approach spanned detailed P&ID developments, equipment sizing, and constructability assessments to minimize risks from third-party ties and environmental factors, delivering compliant designs that uphold system integrity and accelerate regional gas delivery without compromising safety or timelines.

Ongoing since 2022 in GTM Mainland, British Columbia, this program showcases Lauren’s versatility in brownfield gas infrastructure for sustained performance and scalability.

Infrastructure: New/relocated meter buildings (80-640 MMSCFD) with shop-built skids, 20”/24” branch interconnects and bypasses, standalone NPS 12 upgrades (200 MMSCFD), and 300 MMSCFD T-South expansions including flood-resilient features.

End-to-End Expertise: FEED studies, detailed designs, procurement for relocations and ties, reliability assessments of electrical/generator systems, and hazard reviews for bypasses and metering.
